Students are asked to complete a 10 page argumentative research paper with the scope of the course topic. So, arguments, issues, authors in phenomenology and existentialism are the focus. I anticipate a variety of interests. For example, religious existentialist authors (e.g. Marcel, Kierkegaard), authenticity, maybe some core phenomenological issues (egology, intentionality, intersubjectivity), perhaps looking at Latin American authors (e.g. Grupo Hiperion), and maybe some more interested in literary representations of existentialism.

What skills do you expect the Librarian to teach during the session?:
Search strategy/infoseeking, Evaluating Sources

What is the topic students will be searching?:
Existentialism and Phenomenology

Please provide a copy of your course's syllabus.:

What do you want students to be able to do by the end of the session? (Desired Learning Outcomes):
I want them to know to schedule appointments with librarians for research help. I want them to have a basic familiarity and comfort with researching their topics, to have started (or refined) their working bibliographies. They will be completing some brainstorming on ideas for topics before this session.
